On March 13, 2019, the Coastal Flow Measurement family gathered at the Bay Oaks Country Club in Houston to celebrate the retirement of long-time employees Gary Menzel and Tony Mazac. The dinner event included current and former coworkers, some special guests, numerous remembrances, and an especially entertaining version of the game show Jeopardy!
Gary Menzel joined Coastal Flow following his graduation from Rice University as a National Merit Scholar in 1978 with degrees in Mathematics and Physics. He quickly advanced along a technical career path to his current position as Senior Vice President of Technical Services. Gary has made many significant contributions to the oil and gas industry over his more than 40 years with Coastal Flow, including serving on key technical and standards-setting committees for the API, AGA, and others. In addition to continuing to teach classes at such forums as the American School of Gas Measurement Technology (ASGMT) and the International School of Hydrocarbon Measurement (ISHM), Gary will work for the company as a consultant on special projects.
Prior to joining Coastal Flow in 2006, Tony Mazac attended the University of Houston where he studied Civil and Mechanical Engineering in preparation for working 35 years as a Measurement Specialist and Operations Manager in a family-owned business — American Flow Measurement Company. Tony has worked in all phases of gas measurement, providing both technical and operational leadership, with an extremely pragmatic, hands-on approach to hydrocarbon measurement. Among his many noteworthy contributions, Tony designed and oversaw construction of the company’s training center in Pasadena, and developed a comprehensive gas technician training program for employees, military veterans, and customers.
Company management joins with past and present employees, valued clients, industry partners, and friends of Coastal Flow Measurement in congratulating Gary and Tony. Their outstanding career accomplishments have markedly advanced the measurement field while significantly contributing to the company’s growth and success in meeting customers’ needs. Best wishes are extended to them both for much happiness in retirement!
